Digital Learning in Nebraska occurs largely at the district level through a combination of blended learning, video conferencing, and supplemental online course options. Nebraska does not have multi-district fully online schools or a state virtual school. The Nebraska Virtual Instruction Source (NVIS) maintains a course catalog that offers over 200 distance learning courses in the various delivery modes from district and university providers.
The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) provides access to a learning management system for all Nebraska public and non-public schools and districts through the Canvas Statewide Consortium. The NDE provides LMS technical support and training for district staff and districts pay a $3 per seat fee.

Lincoln Consolidated Schools LCS Virtual Academy is a fully online learning option for K-12 LCS students.
Omaha Virtual School is a K-12 hybrid program combining online curriculum with one day of required attendance at a learning lab with a teacher.
Grand Island Public Schools’ Virtual School offers online options for elementary students.
The University of Nebraska High School (UNHS) offers over 100 asynchronous online courses to students in the state, nationally and internationally.
State Policies
No major legislation impacting online and/or blended learning was passed January through August 2022.
Rule 10 requires the NDE to accredit or approve all schools in Nebraska and includes provisions that impact digital learning in the state.
